Master Cyrus had trusted him, had left Galactic in his hands and gone somewhere that Saturn couldn't follow, and this final order wasn't one he was going to ignore.Post-Platinum Saturn, now going under the professional alias of Atlas, has taken over Cyrus' role as the leader of Team Galactic and parted ways with both Jupiter and Mars. Publicly, they research greener energy options for Sinnoh and work with companies looking to reduce their carbon footprints. In reality, however, they are propping up other region's villain efforts. They consider themselves neutral, taking no sides whenever conflicts arise, and will send Grunts, money, and Galactic resources to anyone considered an interesting investment. If Atlas is going to be working side by side with someone, he needs them to be amusing enough to keep his attention!One of his more notable partnerships was with Galar's Macro Cosmos, where he encouraged and aided Chairman Rose's plan to use Eternatus to solve the future energy crisis. Atlas worked closely with Macro Cosmos' Tech and Energy subsidiaries as well as Macro Net, demanding significant influence in these circles as repayment for his aid. Kukui always had a talent for battling, enjoying the thrill of it all and how it made him and his team grow closer together, but after a lot of consideration he didn’t feel like the Trainer career was right for him. The Champion title had so much responsibility attached to it, a lot of expectations he didn’t want to chain himself down to, and while he admired Alola’s Trial Captains greatly he couldn’t see himself becoming one.He returned to Alola determined to devote himself to academia instead, focusing his studies around pokemon moves and the range of attacks each species could learn. His decision to abandon more conventional forms of study to use himself as a crash-test dummy certainly seemed odd to some, but Kukui himself seems to be almost indestructible. First-hand experience is, apparently, the best way to conduct his research, and he’ll brush off any concerns he hears.As his research progressed, Kukui turned his attention to fulfilling his dream of making Alola a Pokemon League of its own. He’d been inspired by his travels through Kanto, and wanted to give his home region a chance to showcase its own Elite Trainers and Champion alongside its traditional challenges. This dream was finally completed over the course of Sun/Moon, and after challenging the player to one final battle, he named them Alola’s first-ever Champion.Since then, Kukui has been doing much of the same work as before. He still continues with his academic studies, tussling with his pokemon and helping them test out new moves against him, and his love for battle is used to further his success in the Battle Royal Dome. Though he’s not the best at keeping his Masked Royale alias a secret, he insists they’re not the same person. It’s no fun having a second identity if he gives it up so easily, and anyone who has figured out the secret is usually kind enough to play along with his game. It’s all just a bit of harmless fun, really!The main change is that he’s stepped up to oversee and guide the League, making sure everyone involved with it is happy and content to keep their positions. They're said to be neither human nor pokemon, an entirely different type of being that has been inhabiting the earth long before anything else. They once had a territory spanning the entirety of Galar, but deforestation and development of the region pushed them back and restricted them to the Glimwood Tangle. The creatures have never forgotten this injustice, and they have never forgiven it, either.Opal is the Fairy specialist of Ballonlea, and as such she has a closer relationship with the Tangle than most of the town's residents. It is her duty to guard the forest and make sure that no more of its territory can be diminished, as well as to care for the pokemon living inside it. Since retiring, this responsibility has instead been granted to her successor Bede, but Opal still holds a lot of love for the Fairy forest. She's still a very prominent figure within Ballonlea, frequently opening up the Gym to host her baking contests and tea parties, and she's attends every Star Tournament and Ballonlea Gym Battle.Most of her time is still spent within her little town, guiding Bede through his Gym Leader training and helping keep the employed Gym Trainers up to standard, though she can be convinced to take a holiday every now and again. She just needs a good enough reason to go.Something important to note is that Opal has, through her extended exposure to the Tangle, become part Fae herself. She has a supernatural affinity for all of the pokemon falling under that type, and is fully aware of the dangers that lurk in its depths. The usual tricks do fall within her power (e.g. the common "Can I have your name?", as well as her ability to manipulate pokemon stats), but she usually restricts herself to using them only within the context of a battle. The Crimson Unit followed her lead and fled en masse from Dim Sun's ranks, and together they worked together to get out of Almia unnoticed.Now missing both a leader and a goal to work towards, Lavana had a lot of opportunity to reconsider what she wanted her future to look like. Sure, she could join a new team and work her way back up to an Admin position, but what would that achieve? Being a subordinate had brought her nothing but failure and humiliation.She spent far too much time dwelling on these thoughts, the sadness and disappointment of her beloved Crimson Unit only fuelling her own bitterness. It wasn't fair! Why should some stupid Ranger get to derail everything she'd worked hard to achieve? Couldn't they understand the importance of not meddling in adult affairs? Now all of her pokemon were freed, the Gigaremo units likely already destroyed or in Union custody, and she didn't even have the whereabouts of her other colleagues to later meet up with.With no concrete plan available, Lavana and her Crimson Unit currently travel from region to region.
